This week, Year R have been exploring all things superheroes!
In Writing, we have been enjoying the phonics story "Top Pip and Top Pap!" We acted out superhero scenarios and thought about how the characters might help us. Some children are now writing “Top Pip!” and “Top Pap!” independently, using the letters and sounds learned in their phonics sessions. In Science, we explored different materials by designing superhero capes and testing whether they were waterproof, strong and flexible.
We have also been enjoying the great outdoors. With Mr G, our Site Manager, we helped rake and collect leaves around the school grounds. In our OWWL sessions, we worked with Mrs Rothwell and Year 6 to create an animal tracking area using sand, and we are hoping to spot some footprints later in the week!
In Maths, we have been exploring the number 5. At home, you can support your child by counting groups of five objects or challenging them to practise writing the number 5.
It has been a brilliant week of imagination, teamwork and hands-on learning!
