Play blog:
Over the past two weeks, we have been exploring ways to enhance our lunchtimes. From balancing, stilts to grass games; Year 6 have been championing play bags. It has been lovely to see a range of activities on offer. Following this, we have been looking at other ways to ensure lunch play options cater for all our interests. We have also considered a range of large physical group games, calm activities or problem solving STEM activities. At OLSJ, we want to ensure our children always have opportunities to 'Be creative, be physical and problem solve'.
We ended the week by 'zoning' the playground and opening up the 'calm blue zone' which included colouring, lego, crafts and chalking! We enjoyed creating murals, games and constructing designs from paper. Some children have even begun chalking instructions and making signs for the calm space... take a look at our photos to see if you can spot us!
The ever popular '4 square' continues refereed by Mr Ellis. We enjoyed some 'trick shots' trying to see how far we could get Mr Ellis to duck and dive!
Year 4 children continue to collect ideas that can be rotated week on week. We are so very pleased the sun is out and we are incredibly excited about being able to play some large wide games and sports on the field during lunch.
Mr Clark has been building upon our continuous OWWL provision as we began to turn beds and consider when our cucumber plants will be ready to plant outside. We had to use our gross motor skills and core strength as we are still experiencing morning frost and crunchy beds!
We can't wait to see what happens next!
