OWWL update:
Beautiful weather graced us as we enjoyed our OWWL sessions together. We searched for living creatures today and asked questions as to why it seemed quieter than usual… We managed to find several different species of bird including robins, sea gulls, house sparrows and magpies. We also saw evidence that foxes had been on the grounds! There were woodlice, spiders and worms aplenty too. We pondered as to why there were not many flying insects around and even the amount of birds seemed to be quieter than usual - some suggestions included: “It’s getting too cold for some of them so they’ve gone somewhere warmer.”, “We’re too loud!”, “They don’t have enough food - we need to put more out for them.” This then led us on to discussions about climate, migration, what different living creatures need, life cycle, hibernation and more. It was lovely to hear so much knowledge being shared among the children.
We also popped our creative hats on in our sessions today! We created nature inspired Christmas postcards to share with our community! Once they’re finished, we will pop them in the Pennington Community Kindness Kiosk that is just opposite school on Ramley Road. Please help yourselves!
Finally, we helped out our smaller friends in Year R today. Their planting bed was overrun with BIG weeds so we used our BIG muscles and team work to heave, dig and pull out the weeds for them.
