CAFOD Visit:

We were delighted to be visited by Steve from CAFOD on Monday, who worked with each class from Year 1 to Year 6 to explain the vital work that CAFOD carries out around the world.

CAFOD is a Catholic charity that helps people across the world to escape poverty, stay safe during disasters and care for our planet, living by and exemplifying the values of Catholic Social Teaching.

Steve worked with us to help us understand CAFOD’s mission and the plight of children and families living in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities. Through stories, discussion and activities, the children learned about the challenges many people face, including poverty, a lack of access to clean water and education, conflict and the effects of climate change. This linked to our PSHE work and assembly this week on Global Goal 1- No Poverty.

Most importantly, Steve helped us to recognise that we all have a part to play in creating a fairer and more compassionate world. Our pupils reflected on how even small acts of kindness, generosity, prayer and action can make a meaningful difference to the lives of others.

The visit was a wonderful opportunity for our children to deepen their understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and to consider how we can put our faith into action by standing in solidarity with children and families across the world.

A huge thank you to Steve and CAFOD for spending the day with us and for inspiring us to continue working together for a world where every child has the opportunity to live safely, with dignity, hope and the chance to flourish.
