Reading Ambassador Update:

“We want everyone to be able to understand and enjoy the magic of reading. We want everyone to be excited to share a book, whether they can read or not!”

During Autumn 1, we have spent our time as reading ambassadors sorting through the books that we have available to the children in our school. We added new labels to help children find books that are appropriate for them to read so that they can enjoy them at home. As reading ambassadors, we want to help the world to enjoy books not just our school. Therefore , we have chosen to support a wonderful charity called Libraries without Borders. This charity gives books to people and children all around the world especially in places where they cannot afford books or do not have access to libraries. This ensures access to information and education for those who need it most, whether refugees in humanitarian crises or under-resourced communities in the developed world.

We have thought about ways to improve the reading experience for children at our school from audio books to maybe even a hammock outside for a cosy place to read in nature! We have loved being judges for the Hampshire Library Services Illustrated Book Awards! We had the pleasure of looking through 6 beautifully illustrated books and had the hard job of choosing just one to win, which we have fed back to Hampshire Library Services. We have chosen The Wild by Yuval Zommer. We definitely recommend having a read!
