Year 4 blog:

Year 4 have been looking at place value  maths. They have recapped the value of each digit in 4 figure numbers. They have also learnt how to round numbers to the nearest 10,100 and 1000. In Year 4, we’ve been focusing on writing character descriptions, using Miss Trunchbull from Matilda as our inspiration. The children have learned how to bring characters to life by describing their speech, thoughts, actions, appearance, and the way other characters respond to them. We looked closely at how Miss Trunchbull’s harsh language and threatening behavior make her such an unforgettable villain, and how her appearance, including her towering height and stern expression, adds to this. Through this process, the children have crafted vivid character descriptions, developing both their writing skills and creativity. In Science, Year 4 have been studying the digestive system. They first looked carefully and each individual type of teeth and its function. Next, they created their own model of the digestive system.
