VIP Visit!

Years 5 and 6 had a wonderful afternoon welcoming children's author Cathy Faulkner to our school. Cathy shared her two exciting historical novels, Digging for Victory and The Treasure Seekers, both set on the Home Front during the Second World War. She captivated the children by reading extracts from each book and talking about her journey as an author. Year 6 were able to draw on their existing history knowledge to make links with the stories, while the visit provided Year 5 with a fantastic introduction to the topic they will explore in greater depth next year.

The afternoon brought another exciting celebration as Cathy became our VIP guest for the grand opening of our brand-new scooter pods. After a confident and thoughtful speech from our Y6 Travel Ambassador and Head Girl, Tilly, Cathy officially cut the ribbon to declare the scooter pods open.

The new scooter pods have been funded by My Journey Hampshire & Modeshift Stars and will provide a safe, secure place for children to store their scooters, encouraging even more pupils to travel to school actively. Our Travel Ambassadors were incredibly proud to see their hard work come to life and were delighted to share this special moment with such an inspiring visitor.

A huge thank you to Cathy Faulkner for spending the afternoon with us, inspiring our young readers and writers, and helping us celebrate this exciting new addition to our school. It was a truly memorable day for everyone involved!
