Year R blog:
Year R has had so much fun exploring and experimenting with their learning as ever. At the start of the term, we celebrated the Hindu festival of Diwali and have used this as inspiration for our work.
In Writing, we made a list of all the things we would need to hold a Diwali celebration. We used our fantastic phonics to identify and write sounds in some of our Diwali keywords including - gift, sweets and candle.
In our Expressive Arts and Design lessons, we have been exploring colour mixing. We had so much and we found out all about the primary colours and how we can mix them together to make secondary colours! We also did some experimenting with mixing colours in different forms, including food colouring, chalk and liquid paint. We used the colours we created to paint beautiful paintings representing the colourful, celebratory nature of Diwali.
In Science, we explored malleable materials. After carrying out different experiments to find the perfect material, we moulded Diya lamps using clay.
