Year 4 History Workshop

Year 4 had the fantastic opportunity to take part in a hands-on workshop with Verity, the “time travelling archaeologist” from St Barbe Museum, who came to visit us at OLSJ. In this 90-minute session, pupils journeyed back over ten thousand years, exploring what life was like in the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. Using real museum objects and props, they discovered how new tools and discoveries changed the way people lived through each period. The adventure ended back in the present day, where pupils became archaeologists themselves, investigating the evidence left behind and what it reveals about the first humans in our area.

We are really enjoying this topic in our history lessons and are very excited about our upcoming visit to Stonehenge, where we’ll continue to explore and learn even more about these fascinating periods of the past.
