Pupil Parliament:
Today our Year 6 Pupil Parliament Leaders had a fantastic opportunity to work with City Catering, giving real feedback on our school menu. They sampled a variety of dishes and shared their thoughts directly with the company’s managers- a brilliant example of pupils using their voices to influence positive change in their school community.
The children were amazed to discover just how many hidden vegetables were packed into their favourite meals. Did you know that our chicken nuggets also include cauliflower? Or that the macaroni cheese contains butternut squash grown by pupils right here on the school grounds? This week we also enjoyed a delicious pumpkin soup, made using pumpkins grown during OWWL lessons by our very own children.
Our Pupil Parliament leaders gave thoughtful, constructive feedback, showing real leadership and confidence. By sharing their ideas, asking questions, and offering feedback, our pupils are contributing to healthier, more sustainable food choices for everyone. This links to our work on Global Goal 3 - Good Health and Wellbeing, and Global Goal 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production.
Well done Year 6 and thank you to City Catering for working with our children and for speaking to prospective parents at our Open Day. The children were also thrilled to receive some free City Catering merchandise to take home!
