We were absolutely delighted to welcome the wonderful children's author Tọlá Okogwu to our school to celebrate our beautiful new Woodland Wall Art!
The stunning artwork was kindly donated by Promote Your School and the National Literacy Trust as part of the National Year of Reading 2026, where we won a national competition!
During a special assembly, Tọlá inspired our pupils to use the characters, settings and little details in our woodland artwork to spark their imaginations. From mysterious creatures and magical adventures to exciting plot twists, she showed how a single picture can inspire endless storytelling possibilities!
And the inspiration hasn't stopped there! Since her visit, Tọlá's books have been flying off our library shelves! They've been so popular that we've even asked our library service for more copies!
What a fantastic opportunity for our children to meet a real author and discover how stories come to life. We hope the experience has inspired some of our own budding writers to dream big!
A huge thank you to Tọlá, Promote Your School and the National Literacy Trust for helping us celebrate the magic of reading and storytelling.
