Year 5 Assembly:
Today, our school community was treated to an inspiring assembly led by our Year 5 pupils. Their learning this term has been driven by the wonder and wisdom of Sir David Attenborough and the breathtaking documentary series Blue Planet. This powerful influence has ignited Year 5's curiosity, compassion and a desire to protect our oceans.
With confidence and growing oracy skills, pupils spoke clearly about ocean habitats, incredible sea creatures and the environmental challenges facing our planet. Their voices carried a strong message: we all have a responsibility to care for “Life Below Water,” one of the United Nations’ Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
This assembly was a perfect example of how our school is weaving together oracy, global learning and meaningful, real-world topics. The students weren’t just sharing facts that they had researched - they were using their voices to advocate for positive change. Their learning in English has focused on speeches and non-fiction writing and today’s presentation was a shining demonstration of how these skills come to life beyond the classroom.
We hope everyone who attended learned something new and left feeling just as inspired as we did. Well done Year 5!
