Year 6 Pupil Leaders:
We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 Pupil Parliament leaders, who represented our school with confidence, maturity, and passion at a recent Town Council meeting.
The children attended to formally accept a generous £1190 grant awarded to our school by Lymington and Pennington Town Council. This funding will support our exciting planting project as part of Pennington in Bloom, helping us to enhance and care for our local environment.
During the meeting, our pupils spoke beautifully in front of the Mayor, councillors, and representatives from a range of local organisations. They confidently expressed their gratitude for the grant and explained our project in detail to the audience, with such confidence and poise.
They spoke about how being architects of a better world begins within our own community; highlighting that by brightening and caring for our local environment, we are contributing to the Global Goals, including Sustainable Development Goals 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), 13 (Climate Action), and 15 (Life on Land).
It was inspiring for the children to hear from other local groups who also received grants, including the local Scouting unit, Lymington Rowing Club, Oakhaven, the RNLI, and New Forest for Ukraine. Meeting others who are equally dedicated to helping their community reinforced the message that our local area is full of people working together to make a positive difference.
Our pupils demonstrated exceptional oracy skills, speaking with clarity, confidence, and pride in a room full of adults. They were outstanding ambassadors for our school and should feel incredibly proud of their achievements.
And, of course, they also thoroughly enjoyed the refreshments afterwards!
A truly memorable experience that showcased not only their leadership, but also the power of young voices in shaping a better future - well done Year 6, you are true architects of a better world!
