Disconnect to Reconnect Day:

As part of our commitment to the CAFOD LiveSimply Award, which our Prayer Leaders have been working towards this academic year; we recently enjoyed a special "Disconnect to Reconnect" Day across the whole school.

The day encouraged us all to step away from screens, interactive whiteboards and electronic devices and instead focus on the simple things that bring us together. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on what it means to live simply and appreciate the world around us.

One of the highlights of the day was taking part in our annual art competition, kindly supported by the Catholic Women's League within our parish. This year's theme was 'Live Simply',and every class interpreted the theme in a unique way. Using natural materials and inspiration from the outdoors, the children created beautiful pieces of artwork that celebrated God's creation and the importance of caring for our world. These artworks will now be displayed at church, where they will be judged as part of the competition. They will be available for parents to purchase at our Summer Fayre, should you so wish. Unsold artwork will be donated to residents at Belmore Lodge.

s part of our day, children also spent time tending to our vegetable beds and school crops. We watered, weeded and cared for the plants that we have been growing throughout the year. This hands-on activity reminded us of the importance of looking after God's creation and understanding where our food comes from. Taking time to nurture our garden helped us slow down, connect with nature and appreciate the simple joys of growing something ourselves.

In the afternoon, the whole school came together for a giant game of rounders. It was fantastic to see children of all ages playing together, cheering one another on and having so much fun outdoors. There was plenty of laughter, teamwork and friendly competition, reminding us that some of the best moments happen when we switch off our devices and spend time with one another!

Our Disconnect to Reconnect Day was a wonderful reminder that 'living simply' does not mean going without; it means appreciating what really matters – spending time together, enjoying God's creation, reflecting in prayer and making joyful memories.
