Year 6 blog:

Today, Year 6 used their portal stories, which they wrote about in English, to transport themselves back to WW2!

We had some incredible costumes:  land girls, soldiers, evacuees, a tank and even a spy - ‘Agent Blueboat’, who informed us of a code we needed to crack immediately with strict instructions to, ‘incinerate as soon as read.’ This then told us where we were to train to become spies ourselves!

We used a satellite map in order to identify bomb craters in and around the New Forest, discussing why some were more visible than others (ploughed fields, built-up areas destroying most evidence.) We found old air-fields near Beaulieu and many bomb craters within the forestry area of Fritham and Stoney Cross, we also investigated the effect WW2 had in and around our local area.

We spent the rest of the day producing an enormous piece of information artwork, which included: our research, discussions, images and sketches. Well done Year 6, a truly fantastic day filled with opportunities to deepen your learning!
