World Book Day blog:
We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day at school this year! The day was filled with creativity, imagination, and of course, a love of reading.
Children across the school came dressed as their favourite book characters, and we were amazed by the brilliant costumes on display. From classic storybook heroes to magical creatures, it was wonderful to see so many characters come to life. A huge well done to everyone who took part. Our costume competition winners were Eddie Y3 and Audrey Y2, and the Extreme Reading winner was Joey Y6 - who was photographed in a cherry picker!
During the day, Year 4 and Year 5 visited Lymington Library in their costumes, where they spent time enjoying reading for pleasure and exploring a range of exciting books together.
Each class also focused on a special book or theme for the day, producing some truly beautiful pieces of work inspired by their texts. To make the experience even more magical, every classroom had a wonderfully creative “Imagination Door” that welcomed children into the world of their story.
Our class book themes were:
Year R: The Gruffalo
Year 1: The Smeds and the Smoos
Year 2: Paddington
Year 3: Sheriff of Butts Canyon
Year 4: Myths and Legends
Year 5: Our Earth is a Poem
Year 6: Varmints
The doors looked incredible and really helped bring each story to life. It was wonderful to see the children’s enthusiasm for reading and storytelling throughout the school.
A big thank you to all the staff, children, and families who helped make World Book Day such a special and memorable celebration. We are already looking forward to next year!!
