National Reading Championships:

Pupils from Year 6 had a fantastic time taking part in the Junior National Reading Champions Quiz South Heat, competing online against schools from across the South of England, including schools from Chichester and Portsmouth.

It was also wonderful to see two of our partnership schools, Holy Family and Sinclair, taking part too! Some of the children had even met previously at the Hampshire Reading Championships last year, so it was lovely to see some familiar faces on screen.

A huge well done to Cody, Lydia, William P and Izaak, who represented our school brilliantly. The team worked incredibly well together, putting their reading knowledge to the test across a range of challenging rounds.

Although we will not be progressing to the final in London, we are absolutely delighted to share that our team finished SECOND overall in the South Heat!

As runners-up, the team has also won £80 worth of book tokens for the school. Even better, Cody, Lydia, William P and Izaak will have the exciting job of helping to choose which new books we buy with their prize!

What an amazing achievement! We are incredibly proud of the team and the enthusiasm, teamwork and fantastic reading knowledge they demonstrated throughout the competition.
