Pip and Pap Year R Workshop:

Our EYFS pupils enjoyed their very first Pip and Pap Phonics "Parent and Pupil" workshop today!

Parents were invited to come and learn more about our phonics scheme with Miss Taylor,  before exploring the story "Pip and Pap" with their children!

In the story, Pip and Pap have a bit of trouble with crossing the road - so parents and pupils made some traffic lights to help out! Aren't they fabulous?

Miss Taylor explained how to support with early reading at home, exploring the first sounds we have met so far, and discussed how to orally segment and blend when reading!

It was lovely to hear from families directly about how much they enjoyed the session together and how well they are settling into OLSJ:

'Thank you for having us, this is such a lovely experience to have together'

'It's so nice to be involved with their learning and experience school with them, particularly as it's their first year here in a new environment'

'I'm incredibly proud of how well they've settled here. I'm seeing their confidence grow week by week'

Parents and carers are always welcome and extended family should parents/carers be unable to make the session. They typically run fortnightly and our office team send reminder flyers with dates out the week commencing to help with those bustling family calendars!
