Eco Leaders blog:
Eco Leaders Grant
You may have read in the news that our Eco Leaders have been successful in obtaining a grant from Lymington and Pennington Council around a project named "Pennington in Bloom!"
OLSJ have successfully applied for £1000 of funding to plant flowers in planters in different parts of our local community, to add a splash of colour and to brighten up our neighbourhood! Pupils will be looking after the planters regularly as part of our OWWL work, led by our Eco Pupil Ambassadors. This work also supports Global Goals 13 and 15, Climate Action and Life on Land.
Pupils and teachers will be giving a presentation in March to the Council, in the chambers, to finalise our plans.
Cllr Colm McCarthy (school Mayor) stated: "The motion was to financially support the school in applying for a licence to permit them to use community spaces for three years.
“This will allow the students to use allocated community land and town council land to apply planters throughout Pennington with the town’s council support.
“This will get the students more involved within the Pennington community and give them an understanding of how important it is in saving our environment and planet. These are the children of tomorrow and we need to teach them these things.”
