Year 4 blog:

This month, Year 4 have been looking at area. They have explored how different rectilinear shapes can have the same area. They have been using their times table facts and the formula width x length to accurately calculate the area of rectangles and squares.

In Year 4, we’ve been learning about electricity in Science. The children  have looked at the different symbols for each part of a circuit and thought about why these simplified pictures might be used. They have then created their own circuit and thought about why it has worked successfully or what they might need to do to rectify the fault in the connection. The children have also tested different materials to see if they are insulators or conductors and explored deeper with different metals. They have tested to see if a particular metal is better for an electrical connection.

In Art, Year 4 have been learning about the work of Kandinsky. They have been creating abstract art work based from geometric shapes and layered colours.
