Travel Ambassadors:

Our Travel Ambassadors have had a busy and productive start to the school year!

This half term, they’ve worked hard to promote safer and more active travel to school as part of Walktober – encouraging everyone to walk, cycle or scoot instead of using cars. They even created a promotional video to raise awareness across the school!

In addition to promoting active travel, our ambassadors have been helping pupils learn the Green Cross Code, designing eye-catching posters to promote road safety, and leading important discussions about the dangers of distractions like mobile phones, headphones and loud music while walking.

A big step forward this term was the group’s decision to support the charity RoadPeace, which raises awareness about road danger and supports people affected by road crashes.

We’re also proud that four of our pupils have started their Junior Road Safety Officer training, taking their role in keeping our school community safe even further.

The ambassadors have taken on the responsibility of recording and reporting how pupils travel to school, which will help inform future plans and actions. They are already thinking ahead to Autumn 2, where they’ll be:

  • Exploring ways to get funding for high-vis jackets for pupils,

  • Planning a visit to Lymington Town Hall with Year 6 to request a zebra crossing outside our school,

  • Investigating the idea of a role play road track for The Common,

  • Looking for a guest speaker to visit and talk about road safety,

  • And even planning a trip related to travel safety and awareness.

We’re really proud of the passion and leadership our Travel Ambassadors have shown this term. Keep up the great work!
