OWWL Christmas Update:

Mrs Rothwell and children have fully embraced the countdown to Christmas in our OWWL sessions today! Look at our amazing “star of Bethlehem,” made using willow, wool, foraged natural items and fairy lights!

Together, pupils focussed hard and demonstrated some beautiful friendship skills as we passed the resources to one another and constructed the fabulous Christmas star. They discussed the origin of the star, as learnt from the Christmas story in the Bible, and also the significance of the bright shining star leading wise men to something (and someone) incredible - Jesus!

Pupils further explored how there are many people in our world at the moment that may need some light and thought about practical ways that this can safely be spread at Christmastime. Some suggestions were: writing and sending cards to people they know are sad, Christmas shoeboxes (Samaritan's Purse), singing Christmas songs to others in the community and visiting family who live alone.

We also made Christmas decorations using clay (look out for these at the Christmas Fayre!) and, very excitingly, we harvested our Christmas carrots for our lunch next week. Don't worry, we are keeping some back for Rudolph!
