OWWL Update:
We constructed an enclosure to collect all the fallen leaves around the grounds in our OWWL session today! We used many skills to put it all together including: team work, negotiating, safe tools use, gathering leaves, communicating effectively and learning the purpose of leaf mould! We have successfully filled our leaf mould enclosure and know that we will need to keep it topped up as the leaves settle and decay. When they have broken down over winter and spring, we will check to see if they’re ready to be used in our planting beds to enrich the soil! We also gave the birds some love today by collecting, washing and filling their feeder containers with delicious seeds for them. We love seeing them at school and want to encourage more to come!
We have also been busy creating Christmas decorations using natural resources. First we foraged around the grounds, being mindful not to be wasteful or to disrupt any hedgerow creatures! We managed to identify and collect rose hips, rosemary, lavender, willow, bay leaves and holly. With these resources (and wearing gloves!) we arranged them into wreaths! We interwove all the resources through the willow and created some fantastic mini wreath baubles. Look out for these at the Christmas Fayre!
