Year R blog:
Year R have come back to school after the Christmas Holidays fantastically and have enjoyed sharing stories of their Christmas celebrations.
This week in our Expressive arts and Design lessons, we have been exploring using different mark making tools to draw with a purpose. We began by experimenting with the different tools to find our personal preference. We then used these tools to draw fruit and vegetable pictures which resembled those of the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh.
In Maths, we have been exploring halving shapes. we worked practically to find half of different objects including bread and playdough. We then applied our understanding of symmetry to create beautiful butterflies and pizzas which looked good enough to eat.
During Busy Bee Time, we have enjoyed exploring the new role play areas. Our home corner has been transformed into a Chinese New Year celebration, we have been exploring some of the different traditions, learning how to use chopsticks and writing some Chinese symbols. The Chinese theme has continued into our outdoor role play area where we have become Chinese chefs looking up delicious dishes in the Chinese takeaway.
