Reading Ambassadors

This week, our Reading Ambassadors worked with Mr Riste Smith to create a display to celebrate the new children's laureate, Frank Cottrell Boyce. We have ordered several copies of his books for the library so that all pupils can enjoy his work! Our Reading Ambassadors discussed their new display and Frank Cottrell Boyce's work in assembly today, before launching OLSJ's 'Blue Peter Book Club'!

Our Reading Ambassadors are running a lunchtime book club for pupils, using the books promoted on CBBC's Blue Peter and books written by our Children's Laureate, reading to our younger pupils and running linked activities. Look at how many children came to the first session!

Don't forget, all pupils can apply to wear a Blue Peter Book Club badge to wear in school! You can find out more information HERE. Did you know that pupils from Sinclair were featured on Blue Peter last year, as part of a special episode to promote reading for pleasure, and that our very own OLSJ had their library bus featured on the World Book Day episode?

Our team of pupil librarians will be visiting both Southampton Central Library and October Books in the near future, to receive training from librarians and booksellers, to support them in their new role! They will also be meeting other pupil Reading Ambassadors from across the partnership to talk all things books and reading! Watch this space for more reading news!
