Year 2 blog:

This half term, Year 2 have been learning all about life cycles in Science, and it has been a truly special experience. We were delighted to welcome some beautiful ducklings into school, with four of our eggs hatching successfully!

The ducklings have quickly become part of our school community, making firm friends with children across all year groups; not just Year 2!! The pupils have loved every moment of the experience, from carefully learning how to look after the eggs in the incubator to helping care for the ducklings once they moved into the brooder.

It has been fascinating to watch how quickly they grow and change. The children have enjoyed observing the transformation from soft, fluffy down to developing feathers, and have taken great responsibility in helping to care for them.

The ducklings even spent a weekend at Miss Wingate’s house, where they enjoyed a swim in the bath and had the chance to meet her family, an adventure they seemed to thoroughly enjoy!

This has been such a lovely way to celebrate the arrival of Spring, bringing learning to life in a hands-on and memorable way for everyone involved.
