RHS School Gardener of the Year
As you may be aware, our very own Mrs Rothwell is one of just five national finalists for the Royal Horticultural Society's "School Gardener of the Year" competition!
We were tasked with putting a video together to show Mrs Rothwell's work in action, to share with the judges.
We believe that our video captures both Mrs Rothwell and our childrens' love of nature, love of the outdoors and love for our environment. Pupils at OLSJ are very fortunate to have many opportunities to work outside in our splendid grounds.
The video will be judged in the coming days by horticulturalist and TV presenter Frances Tophill; RHS Young Ambassador and Young School Gardener of the Year George Hassall; RHS School Gardening Champion of the Year and founder of The Papillon Project Matt Willer; and RHS Ambassador for young people and community gardening and founder of Grow2Know Tayshan Hayden-Smith.
Mrs Rothwell has won £200 in Garden Centre vouchers for the school, just by being a finalist alone! We are so proud of her work and how much she inspires our pupils to love the outdoors and to care for our planet. Whatever the result of the competition, she is very much our champion!
You can view our video submission below - we hope you enjoy it!
