Year R - Parent workshop:

Year R Pip and Pap Workshop

Year R parents and pupils loved reading Orange Phase Book 9 together, "Mas and Nin."

In this story, Mas the dog and Nin the cat aren't getting on too well! Luckily, Kom the cop is there to save the day!

Pupils read words with the focus grapheme-phoneme correspondences /g/ /o/ /c/ and /k/, such as 'dog', 'cat', 'cot', 'stop', 'cop' and 'kip'. They used these words to read sentences such as "The dog and the cat." We have been very impressed with how well our Reception children are already blending!

At the end of the session, they made their own cats out of collage materials! Aren't they fantastic?

We run Pip and Pap workshops every other week at OLSJ, in Years R-2. Please ask your child's class teacher or at the office for more details.
