Pip and Pap Workshop

Year 2 Pupils enjoyed their first Pip and Pap Phonics Workshop of the year today, reading Purple Phase Book 3, "Roman Numerals!"

This book focused on recapping alternative pronunciations for graphemes we have already met, such as the letter <a> pronounced as /ai/ in words like 'acorn', /ar/ in words like 'grass' and /o/ in words like 'squash!' Year 2 explained the alternative pronunciations for the letters 'a', 'e', 'i', 'o' and 'u' to their parents and before reading the story to their grown up.

In this story, a spider interrupts Pip and Pap's History lesson! Once parents and pupils had read the book together, they made their own spiders, with paper plates and googly eyes! Aren't they fantastic?

We regularly run Pip and Pap Phonics workshops in school, in Years R-2. Please speak to your child's class teacher to find out more information!
