Eco Leaders:
Eco Leaders Trip to the Sustainability Centre
Our KS2 Eco Ambassadors recently enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Sustainability Centre in Petersfield, where they explored what it truly means to be sustainable and how we can all live more responsibly. The trip linked closely to Global Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, helping pupils understand the importance of creating greener, more sustainable communities.
It was a pleasure to meet the passionate team at the centre, who led a range of engaging, hands-on activities throughout the day. The children created beautiful leaf prints on natural materials, exploring different shapes, textures and patterns while learning to identify a variety of leaves they found around the site. They also experienced pond dipping, where they discovered and identified fascinating creatures in their natural habitats.
One of the highlights of the day was smoothie making, but with a twist! Pupils powered the blenders using bicycles, demonstrating an ingenious and fun way to generate energy. This activity sparked excitement and curiosity about renewable energy and sustainable living.
The group also spent time bird watching across the stunning South Downs, appreciating the beauty of the natural environment and reflecting on the importance of protecting it.
Our Eco Ambassadors returned feeling inspired, motivated, and full of new knowledge about how we can all “live simply” and make more sustainable choices in our everyday lives. Well done Eco Ambassadors!
