Year 2 blog:

Marwell Zoo

Year 2 had an absolutely wonderful time on their trip to Marwell Zoo. The children were full of excitement from the moment we set off on the coach and the whole day was packed with discovery, curiosity and lots of fun.

As part of our Geography learning about Rainforests, we spent plenty of time exploring the Tropical House. The moment we stepped inside, we were met with warm, humid air, just like  the climate of a real rainforest! The children enjoyed spotting the lush plants, colourful birds, and fascinating creatures that make their homes in this environment. It was a brilliant way to bring our classroom learning to life.

We also linked our visit to our Science topic on animals, including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish. The zoo gave us an amazing opportunity to see so many examples up close. The children loved observing the different features of each animal group and talking about what makes them unique.

As always, the penguins were a firm favourite, as were the giraffes!
